Philips would love a US-wide Wii U ban, is suing Nintendo for patent infringement
Oh boy.
Electronics giant Philips is suing Nintendo for patent infringement of their “pointing” technology. A statement from the lawsuit:
The present patents-in-suit stem from these fields of research and development and claims protection for an interactive system for which a user can remotely control devices in an intuitive manner. Such intuitive remote control mechanisms are used in present-day home video game consoles.
Of course, we all know that the pointing tech has been around since the Wii. Will Philips succeed in their legal battles against Nintendo? Who’s to say: they may have a valid case.
Still, I’d like a formal apology for the CDi Zeldas, which we’ve never received. [❤]
