Starship Damrey, one of the releases from the Guild02 games, advertises itself as an atmospheric game that will leave you on the edge of your seat as you solve the mystery of the spaceship that you find yourself trapped in. Does the game live up to such claims?

Starship Damrey opens up with the player stuck inside a small, cramped containment unit. You are asked to are slowly acquainted with the controls through a simple tutorial where you gain control of one of the robots parked outside the container. The obvious goal is to find a way to escape the container while exploring the seemingly abandoned ship that you find yourself on. There is a good twist at the end, and the little lore that is present is interesting enough.

The game itself is very straight forward. You are in control of a robot and must explore the seemingly desolate spaceship. You must solve some simple puzzles, which involve finding items and placing them in their proper places. The camera is first person, and the game controls are perfectly fine. The puzzles in the game only take a bit of thinking to accomplish, and there are only a few floors that you need navigate, making backtracking relatively painless. The game clocks in at about 4-5 hours of play, and there are a few small changes to the ending depending on what you did throughout the game. There’s even an epilogue story and some content available to people who bought the previous Guild01 games. A single playthrough is enough to finish the game at 100% completion, so there’s little replay value.

Starship Damrey is looks fairly serviceable. Graphics are simple, and the rooms are detailed well enough. There’s nothing of real notice, but at the same time, there’s little to complain about in the game’s presentation. there’s little in the way of audio in the game, but what is there suits the game well. Voice acting is competent enough, but there is not that much in the game.

Ultimately, Starship Damrey is a perfectly serviceable game. What it does, it does adequately. Unfortunately, with such little replay value and a short length, it is hard to truly recommend to those that are not already interested. For those interested in a fairly unique story and something to spend an afternoon with, Damrey is worth a look.

Score: 6.5/10 [❤]
