Hyrule Warriors Getting a Nintendo Direct This Monday
August 4.
At 8 p.m. PST of all times! Is this the first evening Direct? I can’t recall. I expect some megaton reveals for the game considering the game is getting it’s own Direct. You’ll be able to watch it here.

I’m certainly not the first to compare the new Smash Bros. minigame to the Finnish App Store sensation. Players will attack a bomb to set it off then send it flying to hit targets.
Not only will the bomb destroy targets, but it will also destroy walls and obstacles that will in turn destroy other targets. Your Target Blast score will contribute to your Global Smash Power. [❤]
Impa Cuts Deep in New Hyrule Warriors Trailer
The wise and powerful Impa is a Zelda series mainstay like Link and Ganon. In Hyrule Warriors we’ll be able to play as her Skyward Sword iteration.

Get Mega Heracross or Mega Pinsir in Upcoming X and Y Distribution Event
Pinsir and Heracross are version exclusives no longer!
From August 13 to September 17, you’ll be able to download Pokemon Y exclusive Heracross for Pokemon X and Pokemon X exclusive Pinsir for Pokemon Y at your local participating GameStop store.
Starting August 18, you’ll also be able to download a Mega Stone for each of these used-to-be version exclusives at GameStop.
The Lv. 50 Pinsir will have an Adamant Nature and knows X-Scissor, Earthquake, Stone Edge, and Return. It will have one of two Abilities: the defensive Hyper Cutter Ability or Mold Breaker. During Mega Evolution, Mega Pinsir’s Ability becomes Aerilate.
The Lv. 50 Heracross has an Adamant Nature and knows Bullet Seed, Pin Missile, Close Combat, and Megahorn. Its Ability, Swarm or Guts, will change to Skill Link during Mega Evolution. [❤]

The latest Assist Trophy revealed is from Japan Game Boy title “The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls.” The Sable Prince transforms into a snake or a frog when he arrives on the battlefield and attacks your enemies. [❤]
Renegade Kid’s Xeodrifter is Metroidtastic
The teased titled by developer Renegade Kid (Moon, Mutant Mudds) is Xeodrifter, which isn’t shy about comparing itself to Metroid.
Renegade Kid’s Jools Watsham adores titles like Super Metroid, Metroid Zero Mission, and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, and wanted to make a game of that sub-genre.
Jools Watsham will also be releasing developer diaries up until the game’s release on GoNintendo. Can’t wait to see it completed. I can’t get enough Metroidvanias. Xeodrifter will be available on PC and 3DS. [❤]

Lana Proves Nature Always Wins in Hyrule Warriors
The Deku Stick has turned from a useless weapon to a fearsome magic staff that Lana uses in Hyrule Warriors.
Deku Stick in hand, she’ll be able to use projectiles, uproot branches to strangle enemies and even summon Deku Trees to ride around and attack the enemy. Check out the trailer here. [❤]

Demon King Ganondorf Looms Over the Battlefield and Looks Fabulous Doing So
What’s the word to describe Ganondorf’s new haircut? At the risk of sounding cliche, I have to go with “Fierce.” I may be the odd one out, but I’m digging the heck out of that bright red mane. He might be wielding two swords, but his arsenal no doubt includes a few bottles of Vidal Sassoon.
While Ganondorf’s reveal was awesome, it wasn’t all we learned from the 26 minute video. Here’s a quick recap of the new stuff revealed.

The Sheik Gender Debate Has Been Settled Once and For All
Nintendo finally answered the question that has started many a flame war since Ocarina of Time was released in 1998: Is Sheik supposed to be male or female? According to Nintendo’s Bill Trinen, the answer is the latter.

I guess it’s settled then. I always figured Sheik was supposed to come be a male, considering it would be an even more effective way for Princess Zelda to hide her true identity. Today, I am once again proven wrong. [❤]

You Won’t Believe Yoshi’s Real Name
Blake Harris, author of Console Wars got his hands on a Nintendo Character Guide. Among the characters featured were Yoshi, whose full name is “T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas.”
Like an episode of Lost or the Daily Smash Bros. Screen, this reveal asks more question than it answers. What does the “T” stand for? I’m guessing Theodore.
My guess is most likely wrong, but the great thing about this is I’m fairly positive even Nintendo completely forgot about Yoshi’s formal name. [❤]

Nintendo Adds Three Mercedes Benz Cars to Mario Kart 8
Starting Aug. 27, Mario Kart 8 owners will be able to download the modern Mercedes-Benz GLA, the 300 SL Roadster from the 1950s and the legendary Silver Arrow of the 1930s.
Aug. 27 is the 22nd anniversary of the release of the first Super Mario Kart in Japan in 1992. What an awesome DLC to celebrate with. If you need yet another Mario Kart fix, you can download Super Mario Kart right now on the Wii U VC. [❤]

You’ll be able to rotate trophies easily in 3DS Smash Bros.Sakurai is hinting that the 3DS version alone will have many more trophies than Brawl. Excellent: the more the better! [❤]
Takamaru Isn’t Playable in Smash Bros, But He’s Now on the Virtual Console
The bravest Samurai in Nintendo lore may not have the star power of a Samus or a Link, but he still deserves some appreciation. The Smash Bros. team put this fan favorite in Smash 4 as an Assist Trophy, despite the cries for him to enter the fray as a playable character.
There is a silver lining though: the classic 1986 top-down action game he appeared in Mysterious Murasame Castle is now available on the 3DS Virtual Console: the first time the title has been available in the west. Not a terrible parting gift. [❤]

Mega Man 5 Out Now + Much More Mega Man on the Way
The NES title is now available on the Wii U Virtual Console 4.99.

Modder Plays a 2DS With a Gamecube Controller
Impressive.
Youtuber 4344739 modded his 2DS to play games with a Gamecube Controller. There’s no how-to’s on how to do this yet, or even hints at one in the future.
Still, it’s pretty neat that someone was able to tinker their way into doing this. And just in time for Smash Bros. Check out the mod here. [❤]
